Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - The Department of Tourism, Region 2 was invited to present to the Tourism Promotions Board's (TPB) Weekly Members' Chat last August 17, 2022.
The Tourism Promotions Board has about 700 members which are composed of industry players from the service sector and government including transportation - air, land and sea, accommodation, travel and tour operations, and other tourism-related services.
Department of Tourism, Region 2 office was invited to present a Best Practice on the Creation of its Tourism Mobile Application or TMA, fun tourism 2. The fun tourism 2 application is a user-friendly application that can be downloaded using mobile phones and provides information on tourism destinations, DOT - Accredited accommodation establishments, and other interesting news and information for visitors to the region.
The TMA can also be used by tourism accommodation enterprise owners to monitor their clients and promote the services they offer. The accommodation establishment owners are allowed to upload their pictures, short videos and information about their businesses for free.
For the local government units where the tourist attractions are located, the tourism offices are allowed to upload information about their tourism attractions, including pictures and contact details. The LGUs can also monitor the influx of tourists in their destinations using the application.
The participants to the Weekly Members’ Chat gave positive feedback about the application particularly because it is a very good promotional tool for the DOT – accredited accommodation facilities and LGUs to promote their tourism services and products.
